Title Overlays

Add text overlays to your storyboard for titles, captions, and on-screen text.

Overview

Title overlays are independent text elements that appear on top of your storyboard images. Unlike beat text (which is part of the script), titles are visual elements that render directly on the output image.

Use cases:

  • Opening/closing titles
  • Location captions
  • Time/date stamps
  • Character names
  • Any on-screen text

Creating Titles

Add a Title

  1. Position the playhead where you want the title to start
  2. Click the + Title button in the timeline controls
  3. The title appears as a blue block in the timeline

Default Properties

New titles start with these settings:

  • Text: "New Title"
  • Duration: 3 seconds
  • Position: Center of screen
  • Font: Arial, 48px, white
  • Alignment: Center

Timeline Editing

Titles appear as blue blocks in the timeline above the beat track:

  • Width = Duration of the title
  • Position = Start time on the timeline

Resize

Drag the edges to adjust duration:

  • Left edge - Moves start time (end stays fixed)
  • Right edge - Changes duration

Select a title to edit its properties in the Properties Panel:

Viewing Titles

Output Window

Titles render on top of the current beat's image at the playhead position. They appear even if the beat has no image (on a white background).

Multi-line Text

Titles support multiple lines. Press Enter in the text field to create line breaks. Each line respects the chosen alignment.

Export

Titles are included in all export formats:

  • PDF Storyboard - Titles render on top of images (or white background)
  • Image Sequence - Titles included in exported frames
  • Viewport - Real-time preview during playback

Tips

Quick Positioning

Use the Position X/Y sliders to precisely place titles without guessing coordinates.

Consistent Styling

Use the same font settings across titles for a professional look.

Duration Matching

Make title duration match the beat duration to have it display for the entire beat.

Layer Order

Titles always render on top of beat images and camera overlays.
