NLE Integration

Export your storyboard for import into professional editing software.

Supported NLEs

EmberBoard exports work with:

• Adobe Premiere Pro
• DaVinci Resolve
• Final Cut Pro
• Avid Media Composer
• Vegas Pro
• Any NLE supporting EDL import

Export Workflow

Step 1: Export from EmberBoard

File → Export → EDL + Images (ZIP)

This creates a package containing:

• .edl file (timeline information)
• images/ folder (sequentially numbered frames)

Step 2: Extract the ZIP

1. Download completes
2. Extract to a folder
3. You'll see:

   ProjectName_edl_package/
   ├── ProjectName.edl
   └── images/
       ├── 001_beat_name.png
       ├── 002_beat_name.png
       └── ...

Step 3: Import into NLE

Adobe Premiere Pro:

1. File → Import
2. Select the .edl file
3. Choose sequence settings
4. Link to images/ folder when prompted
5. Timeline assembles automatically

DaVinci Resolve:

1. File → Import → Timeline → EDL
2. Select the .edl file
3. Choose frame rate and settings
4. Media Pool shows offline clips
5. Right-click → Relink → Point to images/ folder

Final Cut Pro:

1. File → Import → XML/EDL
2. Select the .edl file
3. New event created
4. Relink media to images/ folder

What Transfers

✅ Timeline order - Beats in correct sequence ✅ Duration - Each clip's timing ✅ Images - All storyboard frames ✅ Clip names - Beat titles as clip names

❌ Script text - Not in EDL format ❌ Scene headings - Export script separately ❌ Colors - Use clip markers instead

Tips for Clean Import

Before Exporting

1. Finalize timeline - Lock beat order
2. Set correct FPS - Match NLE project
3. Remove shelf beats - Only export timeline beats
4. Check durations - Verify timing is correct

After Importing

1. Verify clip count - All beats imported?
2. Check timing - Durations correct?
3. Adjust transitions - Add fades/cuts as needed
4. Add audio - Import script voiceover if available

1. Export EDL + Images
2. Import into NLE
3. Add temp music/SFX
4. Add voiceover from script
5. Export video for review

Pitch Deck

1. Export PDF Storyboard (detailed)
2. Export EDL + Images for video version
3. Create video edit with music
4. Present alongside PDF

Production Planning

1. Export CSV Beat List (spreadsheet)
2. Export EDL + Images (for editor)
3. Export Fountain Script (for cast/crew)
4. Team has all formats needed

Troubleshooting

Clips Show as Offline

NLE can't find images:

• Ensure images/ folder is in same location as EDL
• Relink media and point to correct folder
• Check image filenames match EDL references

Wrong Duration

Clips import with incorrect timing:

• Check FPS in EmberBoard matches NLE project
• Re-export with correct frame rate setting
• Manually adjust in NLE if needed

Missing Clips

Some beats didn't import:

• Check they weren't on shelf (shelf excluded from export)
• Verify they had images (blank beats may not import)
• Check EDL file in text editor for all entries
