Node Colors

Use colors to organize and categorize your story beats visually.

Changing Node Color

In Properties Panel

  1. Select a beat
  2. Find "Node Color" section
  3. Click a preset color, or
  4. Click "Custom" for color picker
  5. Beat updates immediately

Color Presets

10 pre-defined colors:

  • Red, Orange, Yellow, Green
  • Cyan, Blue, Purple, Pink
  • Grey, Brown

Custom Colors

Click "Custom" to access full color picker:

  • Choose any color
  • Adjust saturation/brightness
  • Preview before applying

Reset to Default

Click "Reset" button to return to theme default color.

Color Coding Strategies

By Scene Type

  • Red - Action scenes
  • Blue - Dialogue scenes
  • Green - Establishing shots
  • Yellow - Key plot moments
  • Grey - Transitions

By Location

  • Blue - INT. scenes
  • Green - EXT. scenes
  • Orange - INT./EXT. mixed
  • Purple - Special locations

By Story Arc

  • Red - A-plot (main story)
  • Blue - B-plot (subplot)
  • Green - C-plot (minor story)
  • Yellow - Climax/turning points

By Production Status

  • Grey - Placeholder/not started
  • Yellow - In progress
  • Green - Complete
  • Red - Needs revision

By Character Focus

  • Red - Protagonist scenes
  • Blue - Antagonist scenes
  • Green - Supporting character
  • Purple - Ensemble scenes

Multi-Select Color Change

Change multiple beats at once:

  1. Shift + Click to select multiple beats
  2. Change color in Properties Panel
  3. All selected beats update

Color Best Practices

Consistent System

Choose a system and stick to it:

  • Document your color code
  • Share with team
  • Use consistently across projects

Don't Overdo It

  • 3-5 colors is often enough
  • Too many colors = confusing
  • Focus on most important categories

Complement with Titles

Colors + descriptive titles = maximum clarity

  • Color shows category
  • Title shows content
