Quick Start
Get up and running with EmberBoard in 60 seconds.
5-Minute Storyboard
1. Create Beats (10 seconds)
- Double-click in Node View → Creates a beat
- Alt + Drag beat → Duplicates it
- Repeat until you have 5-10 beats
2. Add Images (2 minutes)
- Drag images from your computer
- Drop onto each beat
- Or use Browse button in Properties Panel
3. Write Script (2 minutes)
- Click a beat to select it
- Type in the Script field (Properties Panel)
- Add scene headings:
INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY - Move to next beat and repeat
4. Preview (30 seconds)
- Press Spacebar to play
- Watch your storyboard come to life!
- Adjust timing with + / - buttons
5. Save (10 seconds)
- File menu → Save Project
- Downloads
.emberboardfile - You're done!
Common First Tasks
Import Existing Images
Already have storyboard frames?
Single Image:
- Double-click to create a beat
- Drag image onto the beat
- Repeat for each frame
Bulk Import (Multiple Images):
- Select multiple images in file explorer
- Drag all at once onto the canvas
- EmberBoard creates a beat for each image automatically
- Images arranged in a 3-column grid
Auto-Optimization
All images are automatically resized to 1920×1080 max for optimal performance!
Start with Script
Prefer to write first?
- Create beats for each scene
- Name them in Properties Panel
- Write script in each beat
- Add images later
Duplicate for Variations
Testing different approaches?
- Create your first beat
- Alt + Drag to duplicate
- Try different images in each version
- Double-click to move unused ones to shelf
